Home Battery Storage & Retrofit. Brisbane, Gold Coast & SEQ
Add storage to new or existing solar. Fixed price tiers, in-house licensed team, rebate applied upfront.
Add a battery to new or existing solar
Already have solar? A battery can turn low-value daytime exports into evening energy you use yourself. Energy Gate adds battery storage to existing solar systems across Brisbane and SEQ, or designs solar and battery together for new installs. The first step is not choosing a battery brand — it’s checking your existing inverter, export profile, switchboard, energy usage and backup goals so the retrofit is safe, compatible and worth doing.
Battery Installation
Is a battery retrofit right for you?
The clearest sign a battery is worth it is a meaningful daily solar export on your bill — that surplus is what a battery captures instead of selling cheaply. We size it to your real evening and overnight usage.
Meaningful daily solar export on your bill?
High evening or overnight usage?
Already have solar, or starting fresh?
Want blackout backup for essentials?
Existing inverter can’t add storage on its own?
If your solar is small and you export very little, extra panels may be a better first step than a battery
Safe chemistry, built-in monitoring
Every battery we install uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry — far more thermally stable than older lithium types, with no cobalt and a long cycle life. Each has a battery management system constantly monitoring temperature, voltage and charge.
Extra fire-safety features
Several batteries we install add further fire-safety features — the FoxESS CQ7, for example, includes built-in aerosol fire suppression and an IP65 enclosure. Installed correctly to the standards, with compliant placement, clearances and isolation, a quality home battery is a safe addition to your home.

Battery retrofit options
AC-coupled battery
Your existing solar inverter is healthy and worth keeping
Simple retrofit, but adds another inverter and may be less integrated
Hybrid inverter upgrade
Your existing inverter is old, limited or you want a cleaner battery-ready platform
More work upfront, but often better for backup and long-term expansion
Solar plus battery upgrade
Your existing solar is undersized for a battery
Adds generation so the battery can reliably charge
Why homeowners choose a home battery
Use your own solar
Store daytime solar for the evening peak
Retrofit-friendly
AC-coupled or hybrid upgrade, whichever suits
Real blackout backup
Backup gateway runs your essentials
Modular & expandable
Add capacity later as needs grow
Already have solar? Check your eligibility
We inspect your inverter, switchboard and export profile before recommending anything.
Where your battery goes isn’t an afterthought
Battery location is governed by standards and common sense. Heat and poor airflow shorten battery life, so we look for a cool, shaded, ventilated spot — not just wherever’s convenient. Backup is optional, not automatic, and always quoted separately.
Cool, shaded, ventilated location — never a hot west-facing wall
Compliant clearances, access and signage to AS/NZS 5139
Kept clear of habitable rooms and exit paths
Space left for future expansion
Backup quoted separately and clearly — you know what’s included
We register your manufacturer warranty on install, so cover is valid from day one
If your solar is small and you export very little, extra panels may be a better first step than a battery
Built to standard, accredited to install it
Built to Australian standards
A home battery must be installed by a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 5139, alongside the wiring rules (AS/NZS 3000) and the inverter standard (AS/NZS 4777). The standard sets practical safety rules: batteries must not go inside bedrooms or other habitable rooms, must keep clear of windows, exits and certain appliances, and need proper ventilation, clearances and signage. We install to it as a matter of course, so the installation is genuinely safe for the long haul.
